Loopy Lyra – Spanset & Spinning

With Maia Castro-Santos

This open-level duo workshop is designed for aerial hoop artists looking to gain more experience working with a partner in the air. We’ll explore symmetrical and mirrored movements, weight sharing, and partner dynamics through basing and flying techniques on the lyra.

We’ll begin by developing individual skills, with each partner rotating through both roles—ensuring everyone gains a complete understanding of the movement and can troubleshoot based on each other’s strengths. The second half of the workshop will be more exploratory and creative, focusing on sequence building and navigating pathways that naturally emerge from each duo’s unique dynamics and preferred skills.
